Presentation: “When Qual and Quant Collide: Making Business Sense with Applied Text Analytics”
At our upcoming luncheon, Dr. Evans will critically examine the latest blurring of the boundary between "qual" and "quant" research - analysis of unsolicited Web content. He will summarize the issues Harris Interactive has encountered during a year-long evaluation of data aggregation tools and text analytic platforms needed to develop their sophisticated "global listening" platform that was specifically designed to make the most of online and social media data sources. He'll describe the promise of social media and the Web 2.0 environment, and discuss where it fits within market research, as well as some of the tools and techniques researchers must be prepared to master. The culmination of the initiative he'll discuss will be the keener understanding and exciting opportunities held out by social media monitoring, as well as the important pitfalls that market researchers must address when implementing strategies to mine unsolicited Web content.
