Presentation: “The Home-Depotization of Market Research”
Economic recessions challenge market research managers to cut costs across the research organization. Typical responses are reducing headcount and decreasing the number of research projects, with the likely results of market research adding less value to the company and the research team becoming less involved in strategic decision making. This month’s presentation takes a different viewpoint. Manfred Bluemel, Amazon.com’s Senior Market Research Manager, will show how companies can make effective use of low-cost survey tools to do “more with less” without reducing insights. Learn how Amazon decentralizes, automates, and scales market research projects.
About the Speaker
Manfred Bluemel is Senior Research Manager at Amazon.com, where he heads a team conducting worldwide market research activities. Manfred began his career in political election campaigns, working for the Department of European Affairs for the Austrian government before moving to the U.S. Before joining Amazon in 2002, Manfred was a researcher for Jasc Software (now Corel). Manfred holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Vienna.
